Photos of our flock of Shetland Sheep
No one Shetland sheep looks exactly like another; their faces are recognizable in photos, even years later. So much of the diversity that keeps the breed robust and resilient is secure in the North American Shetland sheep. We are constantly struck by the colors, the patterns and the variations in fleece types in this heritage breed.
Pine Valley winters can be very snowy, and we make paths in the winter pens as we feed them hay. All of the sheep have access to barns for sleeping, but they like to spend their days out in the open. Shetlands are well-insulated by their big dense fleeces, and snow can take days to melt off their backs.
